Coimbatore DIG Suicide: Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore DIG shot himself in his office, after which there was a stir in the entire camp. The DIG died shortly after being shot. It was told that DIG C Vijayakumar shot himself with a pistol in his camp office at Race Course. Policemen close to him told that he was under stress for the last several days. After which now he has taken this step. As soon as the information about the incident was received, all the big officials reached the spot. At present, it has been said to investigate the matter.
Pistol sought from the security personnel
The Times of India has quoted sources as saying that DIG Vijayakumar had gone for a walk on the morning of Friday, July 6, during which he reached his camp office. Here he asked for a pistol from his personal security officer and left the office. A few minutes later the DIG shot himself. On hearing the sound of the bullet, all the police officers present there reached and saw that the DIG had fallen on the ground in a bloody condition. He died on the spot after being shot.
Investigation of suicide started
After this senior officials were informed about the incident over phone. Who reached the spot and completed the rest of the formalities. It has been told in the report that a few days ago, Vijayakumar told his fellow officers that he was not able to sleep properly for a few weeks because he was under a lot of stress. Although the police have not yet disclosed the reason behind the suicide. The police have told that something can be said only after the investigation of the case. After the incident, the body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
Vijayakumar took over as DIG of Coimbatore range on January 6, 2023. Vijayakumar was an IPS officer of 2009 batch. Prior to this posting, he was posted in Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts. Recently he was promoted as DIG.
